It’s 30th November and Mark Twain’s birthday. Today he’d be 188, which sounds old but I’m sure in the current political climate he’d think about running for president.

Mark Twain’s 70th birthday on this day in 1905 was a society bash for the ages, thrown by Colonel George Harvey at Delmonico’s Restaurant in New York. There were a series of speakers, and Samuel Clemens buffs can read text of some on Mark Twain in His Times, written by Stephen Railton,
